Happy 9/11?

Happy 9/11 just doesn’t sound right. Although I’ll take that over the salutation Autumn and I received at 6:30 this morning. We were awaken, mid-slumber, to an electronic voice calling “Fire, Fire” and a piercing beep. I leapt from my bed, sprinted to our malfunctioning fire detector and disarmed it in a time that would put bomb squads to shame. I crawled back into bed as Autumn wished me a happy 9/11. But I couldn’t get back to sleep. My mind turned to the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks not too long ago. How trivial my adrenaline rush must have been in comparison to what these people went through. I can’t imagine what those unfortunate people must have felt. So today our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of the victims of those vicious terrorist attacks, as well as those out fighting the same terrorist factions who attacked us seven years ago today.

Good post, T. 9 /11 will always be one of those days when everyone will remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. I had just seen Amanda out the door to school a little after 7 a.m. Krista was staying with us then and she had just gone downstairs to her room. I flipped on the little kitchen TV for company while I washed dishes and there it was in all its horror. I still find the whole ordeal unfathomable.

Leaping and sprinting? Yeah, right. I like what you said, though. Tough stuff.
